As the coronavirus pandemic is set to affect our lives more significantly in the coming weeks and months we wanted to update you on the ways we're planning to support our community through the crisis.
Initially founded Fresh Light with a mission to help people to Experience Community through our events. This enabled people to; meet, chat and connect with others, making new friends and to find a sense of belonging, because, life can feel really hard and lonely without a support network around you.
The majority of people who attend our events are single working professionals and many live alone. Bearing this in mind, there may be a number of weeks in the near future where many of us are confined indoors, with concerns about getting the virus and how to cope is something that will affect many of us.
Therefore, in the next week or so we intend to launch local online neighbourhood "groups" on the site where members can come together to connect and to support those affected with the virus, whether to help get groceries or supplies or just to provide a friendly ear to chat to.
We are also reviewing our social program to identify lower-risk ways to meet up offline and working on some new ideas for "online socials" to get members together around interesting topics so that we can still have fun and meet people from home!
In the meantime, and hopefully, it goes without saying, please if you are feeling poorly or have been in contact with anyone who has been affected, follow the government guidelines around self-isolating and do not attend socials.
