About the event
Resting a mere 15 minutes from central London, Brixton is worlds apart from the imperial grandeur of the Royal City. A buzzing neighbourhood and one of the most ethnically diverse communities in London, (Brixton is) famous for its food, covered markets, graffiti, street art, mural art, music and a strong sense of community.
From a Victorian middle-class neighbourhood past the mass Afro-Caribbean immigration of the 40s, the turbulent 80s to being London’s culture capital, Brixton has seen it all. In this walk, you’ll get to see its most exciting and iconic landmarks, learn about some famous locals, as well as experience its bustling multiculturalism.
As Nelson Mandela put it in 1995 when he visited Brixton “I want to put you all in my pocket and take you back to Africa with me” experience Brixton with locals and take home a slice of London’s greatest and most diverse neighbourhood with you.
