Walk in the New Forest

We will be meeting at Ashurst Station (Ashurst Hill, Ashurst, Southampton SO40 7AA) at 11.15am before starting our circular walk.

A group of us will be meet at Waterloo station at 9:20 to take the 09:35 train.

Car parking at Ashurst station, it is £7 for 8 hrs and must be paid by paybyphone app. However the happy cheese pub &  Ashurst medical centre  both have free parking. 

We will first head to Lyndhurst (approx 4 miles) before heading back, which should take around 3 -3.5 hours.

• If you are making your own way, please meet hosts, who'll be wearing badges at Ashurst Station (Ashurst Hill, Ashurst, Southampton SO40 7AA) n the New Forest.
• We'll then have a leisurely stroll for 1.5 hrs to Lyndhurst (4 miles away), buy some lunch in Lyndhurst and mosey around there for 1-2 hrs before continuing our loop back to Ashurst Station (another 1.5 hrs and 4 miles)

If you are driving from London it is about 2 hours (90 miles) and from Bristol, it is about 2 hours (75 miles).

Coming by train? 

Recommended train from London Waterloo leaves at 9:35 with a change at Southampton Central before arriving at Ashurst Station at 11:06  

Return trains leave Ashurst Station at 17:35 and every hour after that.

There will of course be an optional pub stop factored in.

Make sure you come prepared with appropriate walking gear, rucksack and supplies you might need, including water and something to keep you warm and dry if the weather is not so great.
